La Farine is a pretty simple bakery operation in West Town with a few small tables. We were there at about 1PM which must be a slightly off time for them since they were seemingly out of most everything. The guy at the counter kept suggesting we try certain things that they're known for and then telling us that they're out of it. The cost was pretty reasonable. We each got some dessert item for something around $3.50.
Although La Farine seems to focus heavily on their bread making, we were going for more of a dessert. We split a Carrot Cake and a Mounds Tart. If you're wondering what a Mounds Tart is, basically it's a tart based on the ingredients in a mounds bar. So you'll understand my confusion when there were almonds in it. I mean they could've called it an almond joy tart. When I inquired why it had almonds he jokingly responded that it was due to copyright issues. The Carrot Cake was moist and had a nice flavor to it.

The desserts were just alright at best at La Farine, but I don't really think it's fair to judge somewhere unless you go for what they're all about. The whole point is the bread, and supposedly on Saturday mornings the bread pudding. Just based on the desserts we had, I'm giving La Farine 2 out of 5 Pearls, but trust me that I'll be back soon to try the bread.
Also don't forget about the event at 7PM on January 20th at the Kenmore Live Studio.
